Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Every second counts when stabilizing life-threatening trauma cases. This course, taught by qualified nurses, prepares you with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and training needed to provide high-quality trauma nursing care. The goal of TNCC is to improve trauma patient outcomes by providing nurses with foundational trauma knowledge, skills, and a systematic Trauma Nursing Process to guide trauma patient care. Verification of successful course completion is based on passing the written exam and the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) psychomotor skills station. Verification is valid for four years. After completing this course, you will be able to properly assess patients and implement evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes for them.

Here’s a glimpse into what you’ll learn:

  • The latest trauma nursing practice recommendations
  • Systematic assessment and standardized approach to trauma nursing care
  • Rapid identification of life-threatening injuries

Pre-course learning: Includes access to required online modules before the course date to let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn, and receive immediate feedback. Modules include a step-by-step breakdown of the Trauma Nursing Process and a comprehensive study guide.

For experienced RNs who have had TNCC in the past, work in active trauma centers, and are familiar with the Trauma Nursing Process (TNP). Designed for RNs who prefer self-study at their convenience. Current TNCC verification is NOT required. TNCC Challenge includes TNP skills testing followed by 7-day access to complete the online written exam. Pre-course modules are required before testing. We will provide all the info/references before testing so you are prepared!

Once you register for this TNCC course version, you will be contacted by the TNCC course director for planning details.
