1. The manual is available for pick up Monday-Thursday from Human Resources Room 3A-140. Please contact Terry Giles at 718-963-8149 if you have any questions. The manual is required for the class. Please do NOT wait till last minute to pick it up!

 2.  If you would like your own manual to keep and do not want to borrow the book, please contact CPR123 to make payment. You have the option to purchase a ebook. You will have to bring a laptop or tablet for the ebook.

4. Please be sure to receive approval from management to attend your course date prior to registering! 

5. You have the option to add on the Online BLS if you need it. You can complete the BLS online, and get skills tested for the BLS on the day of your ACLS/PALS class. You must add on the BLS to the registration; students must bring their certificate of completion to be skills tested!

The ACLS Precourse Work Class

- Basic life support skills
- Early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team and effective team dynamics

Students are expected to have a good working knowledge of EKG rhythms and pharmacology as well as algorithms prior to coming to class. Please be sure to pick up the manual to study in advance to ensure that you are fully prepared for the course! 

How Does this Course Work?

The student must complete the Precourse Work before taking the ACLS Course. The student must email their completion certificate prior to the classThe ACLS Precourse Work involves the student to review the course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This precourse work allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training which leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom. To summarize, students must complete the 4 hour Precourse work at home and then come in for the classroom portion. Please keep in mind, you MUST complete this to attend this course.

American Heart Association has made it mandatory that you complete the ACLS Precourse self-assessment; a score of 90% or higher is required. Once you register, the information will be provided in the confirmation email. 

The PALS Precourse Work Class:

- 1 and 2 rescuer child/infant CPR and AED use
- Management of respiratory emergencies
- Rhythm disturbances and electrical therapy
- Vascular access
- Resuscitation team concept
- Cardiac, respiratory, shock case discussions, and stimulations
- Systematic approach to pediatric assessment

The PALS Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a Team Leader in either an in-hospital or an out-of-hospital setting. Because the PALS Course covers extensive material in a short time, you will need to prepare for the course beforehand.

How Does this Course Work?
