How Does this Course Work?

The ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates a student’s knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment (with a score of 70%) and Precourse Work before taking the ACLS Course. The student must email or print their completion certificate and bring it to class. The ACLS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This Precourse work allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom. To summarize, students must complete the 4 hour Precourse work at home and then come in for the class. Please keep in mind, you MUST complete this to attend this course. Do not register if you do not have enough time to complete this 4 hour Precourse work.

The Qualitative Respiratory Mask fit testing ensures a tight, effective, and customized fit for your face to protect you from airborne contaminants. The fit testing is mandatory for many schools, hospitals, institutions that follow OSHA guidelines.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a N95 card.

Please register and contact the office to schedule your fit testing date and time. Appointments are limited, you can NOT just show up. You MUST call the office.

Students are responsible for bringing their own N95 respiratory masks! Please make sure it is a proper N95 mask that is approved by your institution. Please be sure to bring different sizes for us to test you on! You may purchase one from CPR123 if you can not obtain one. Feel free to contact the office if any questions or concerns.

Facial Hair Guideline Requirements:

OSHA does not permit the use of respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by individuals with facial hair. Facial hair between the skin and face seal of the respirator will interfere with the seal of the respirator. Facial hair can impact the effectiveness of the face seal. If you have facial hair, please note that a fit-test CANNOT be performed if:

  • you have a beard
  • you have more than one day's hair growth on your face

Tips for those with facial hair:

  • shave the morning of the fit-test
  • continue to shave daily while you are required to wear an N-95 respirator

Please refer to OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A)
